A simple transaction can sometimes turn into a relationship.
The owners of Pompidoo camera bags, based in Latvia, proved that they take customer care personally.
I had decided to cash in flight points from Etihad Airways to purchase a camera bag and decided I should be practical and purchase it in brown. It duly arrived -lovely, but not true to my style in brown - so I contacted Pompidoo to exchange it for red, with the freight at my expense.
Over a series of emails during the exchange we moved from purely business, to the lack of a discernable summer, to general conversation - in the course of which I was asked about my intended use of the Pompidoo bag, so gave the address to discover-interesting-places.com.
Having reviewed this site, my Pompidoo contact asked if I would consent to an interview: Paquita Lamacraft - 'Pompidoo Personality'. It would have been rude to say “No”!
Frankly I was delighted, as not only had my cool red bag arrived but now I have two new friendly people in my horizon – one in Latvia, and one in Zurich.
All in all this was a very successful transaction and put together, formed one of those unexpected pleasures in life.
Here is the link – but don’t just read this page – look at the products.
As their tagline says:
Life is never boring with Pompidoo.
Post Script:
My bag is so terrific that at Christmas time I lent it to my photographer friend Julie at Lone Barn Photography.
She loved it too but it is now back home looking for its next adventure.
